Working conditions in hotels

There is a belief in some quarters that hotel and restaurant managers have to work hard and have long working hours.  This is true to some extent and hotel managers in operational areas do have inconvenient working hours. Many of them have to work in the evenings and night shifts because of the nature of the job.  But staff and managers have to work hard in other sectors also: junior doctors, for example, may have to work for 12- or 18-hour shifts, and even senior doctors have to remain on call duty at awkward hours.  Successful managers in most companies, whether they are engineers, finance managers, marketing managers or in administration, have to work long hours, far beyond the normal 8-hour working day. At the present day, one cannot climb the career ladder without hard work and dedication, and only those who show the commitment to work hard and do not shun long hours get promoted. This is the rule for success in any career, be it in India or abroad.  And for the owner of a firm or company, the hours will be far longer still, and the stress correspondingly higher, than in the case of managers. Everyone, of course, appreciates good compensation after putting in the hard work and showing commitment to the company.  Such compensations are abundantly available in the hospitality industry
