ABOUT ECOLE hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL)
FHRAI signed two agreements with Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland , a consulting agreement and a certification agreement.
As part of the consultancy services, EHL has assisted FHRAI in all aspects of establishing the Institute and its opening with its first academic session. This has included consulting in faculty recruitment, curriculum development and course content, in academic inputs such as books and text materials, and in the training and induction of faculty members. All the six faculty members of the institute were trained by a senior consultant from EHL in India and five of them spent a week in EHL campus for their induction training.
The certification agreement covers academic audits by EHL consultants on a regular basis in order to ensure the high academic quality of the Institute. These audits will also serve to update the academic curriculum in the light of the latest trends in the industry. EHL will also certify the degrees of BSc in International Hospitality Management and BA in International Culinary Management awarded by the Institute. The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne was founded in 1893 by Jacques Tschumi, an influential member of the Swiss Hotel Association, known today as Hotelleriesuisse, which is still the parent organization of the School, as well as the governing body of the Swiss hotel industry. As the oldest hotel school in the world, EHL has a very high reputation for academic excellence. The achievements of its graduates in the hospitality industry worldwide extend to all major international hotel chains, such as Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and Marriott. EHL graduates currently occupy many senior positions in the hotel industry, in both industrial and developing countries. One example is Mr Raymond Bickson, Managing Director of Indian Hotels Company Ltd (Taj Group of Hotels), Mumbai.
